BLR competes in soggy Snowball Derby and Snowflake 125
Bryson Lopez Racing (BLR) wrapped up its 2025 season on the first weekend in December at Pensacola, Florida’s Five Flags Speedway. Across the prestigious Snowball Derby and Snowflake 125 at the half-mile oval, the team entered a total of five Chevrolet Late Models and claimed a trio of top-20 finishes.
Qualifying for the crown-jewel Snowball Derby was originally scheduled for Friday evening, but weather delayed the session until Saturday night, when 45 Super Late Models were slated to make an attempt. Two were from the BLR stable.
Brandon Lopez, making his first start in a Super, locked into the 58th running of the race with a 28th-place qualifying effort in his No. 6 LeeBoy Chevy. Meanwhile, two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion and two-time Snowball Derby winner Kyle Busch failed to qualify on time in his No. 51 FloRacing/Lucas Oil ride. However, he won the last-chance qualifier.
The 300-lap, $50,000-to-win main event was slated for Sunday, but rain and persistent fog pushed it to Monday afternoon.
Busch started 31st and had worked his way into the top 10 by lap 109. He briefly entered the top five on the 119th circuit before falling back and bringing home a 19th-place result. Lopez moved forward throughout the race and finished 20th.
BLR also entered three Pro Late Models in the impressive 62-car Snowflake 125 field at Five Flags. On Saturday, Lopez qualifed 20th for the $10,000-to-win feature. His teammates, Chase Burgeson in the "Home Alone"-themed No. 22 car and T.J. DeCaire in the No. 47 Atlanta Paving & Concrete Construction Chevy, were forced into LCQs. Burgeson finished as runner-up in his qualifier to transfer to the main event, while DeCaire was unable to make the show after finishing 12th.
Lopez led BLR with an 18th-place finish in the race, which ended at 3:24 a.m. local time due to the delayed schedule. He did so despite receiving significant left-rear damage in the first half of the 125-lapper. Burgeson, who was making his third Pro Late Model start, took the checkered flag in 31st position.
