Brandon Lopez finishes 16th in chaotic CARS Tour race at Wake County Speedway
The zMAX CARS Tour schedule shifted to Raleigh, North Carolina’s Wake County Speedway on Saturday for the second event of the 2026 campaign. In his first visit to the quarter-mile bullring, Bryson Lopez Racing driver Brandon Lopez battled through an attrition-filled Delta Heating Cooling & Plumbing 175.
With 33 Late Model Stock competitors vying for 26 starting positions, Lopez clocked the sixth-quickest time aboard his No. 6 LeeBoy Chevrolet prepared by Trevor Ward Motorsports.
However, just five laps into the 175-lap, $7,000-to-win feature, Lopez was forced into the marbles, ripping off the car’s rear bumper cover and spoiler. He persevered for the next 100 circuits as caution flags continued to fly and helped him back onto the lead lap. By lap 110, the team had reattached the spoiler and Lopez began to click off positions, making his way up to 11th.
He soon was involved in another accident though, this one affecting the front end and radiator. The crew replaced the damaged radiator under green and Lopez finished in 16th, bringing an end to a wild night in North Carolina’s capital.
