BLR wraps up New Smyrna World Series run with another top-10 finish
Driver Brandon Lopez and his Bryson Lopez Racing (BLR) team concluded their time at the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing on Monday, with Lopez scoring his second Pro Late Model top 10 in three starts.
After suffering significant damage to their No. 6 car in Sunday’s Pro Late Model contest at New Smyrna Speedway, the BLR team rolled out their No. 47 Atlanta Paving & Concrete Construction Chevrolet SS for Monday’s event at the half-mile oval in New Smyrna Beach, Florida.
Lopez qualified seventh and started on the front row after the invert. Despite getting bounced around early, he brought home an eighth-place result in the 60-lap feature. The race was the first Pro Late Model main event of the World Series to run caution-free.
Also on Monday, Lopez attempted to qualify his No. 6 LeeBoy Chevy Super Late Model for the next night’s ASA STARS Clyde Hart Memorial 200. He qualified 34th out of 38 entries, and with only the top 22 locked in, he was forced into the Last Chance Qualifier. The BLR team elected not to participate and save their car.
From Friday through Monday, Lopez claimed one top five and two top-10 results in the Pro Late Model, along with one top 10 in the Super Late Model.
