Brandon Lopez leads BLR with Pro Late Model podium finish at Nashville
The zMAX CARS Tour raced at the famed Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway on Saturday with a sold-out crowd on hand for the Tootsie’s Music City Showdown. The Atlanta Paving & Concrete Construction-backed Bryson Lopez Racing (BLR) team fielded three cars at the historic 5/8-mile Tennessee oval and scored a best result of third.
In the Pro Late Model division, nearly 40 cars attempted to make the 100-lap, $5,000-to-win race. BLR’s Chase Burgeson qualified 10th in his No. 22 Burgeson’s Heating, A/C, Electrical, Solar & Plumbing Toyota Camry. Meanwhile, his teammate Brandon Lopez qualified his No. 6 LeeBoy Chevrolet SS 10th in his return to the Pro Late Model ranks.
Lopez climbed seven positions in the clean race to claim the last podium spot behind Dawson Sutton and Kaden Honeycutt. Brett Robinson and Jackson Boone rounded out the top five. Burgeson remained in the top 10 for the first 55 laps before ultimately finishing 12th.
Lopez did double duty in Music City as he also competed in the 125-lap, $10,000-to-win Late Model Stock program, which boasted a 31-car field. He rolled off 20th in his primary CARS Tour ride this season, the No. 6 Chevy prepared by Trevor Ward Motorsports. With aero making passing difficult, he came home in the 16th position.
